Tesla has introduced a new offer for some Cybertruck owners, giving them a free 1-year trial of Full Self-Driving (FSD). The trial comes as Cybertruck owners still wait for the basic Autosteer functionality that is standard on all other Teslas.
When Tesla first started selling the Cybertruck, it was in the Foundation Series trim, which included, among other things, FSD. For nearly a year Tesla sold and produced this version of the Cybertruck, but for a good portion of that time a working version of FSD was not available for the electric pickup truck. Not only that, but even the basic Autosteer functionality that comes standard on all other Tesla vehicles, was also unavailable.
Just a month before starting to sell the non-Foundation Series Cybertrucks, which didn’t come with FSD as standard, Tesla finally deployed FSD to the Cybertruck in September 2024. However, Autosteer is still a missing feature from all Cybertrucks.
In an apparent attempt to make up for that, Tesla is now giving non-Launch Series Cybertruck owners a 1-year trial of FSD. According to an email sent to owners, it is a little different than the 30-day trials Tesla has given out in the past which just appear on your vehicle. With this, owners must subscribe to FSD by June 6, 2025 using a special included link. After this, they can cancel the subscription, but will still get the 1-year trial.
Tesla explicitly says in the email the Autosteer will “not be available for Cybertruck outside of Full Self-Driving (FSD),” effectively eliminating any chance of that feature coming to the Cybertruck within the next year.
According to some owners who were already subscribed to FSD, they were also given the offer and saw their expiration date extended by a full year.
