Tesla invites customers for 48-hour demo drive, but availability in Canada is limited

Tesla is sending out invitations to customers for a new 48-hour test drive program in Canada and the United States. The offer is for the Cybertruck, as well as the Model S, Model 3, Model X, and Model Y.

While this isn’t the first time Tesla has offered 48-hour demo drive, this marks the first time that the company is offering extended multi-day demo drives for all of its models. However, while you may receive the invitation, you may not be able to secure a 48-hour demo drive near you.

Tesla Canada has been sending emails and messages through the Tesla app about the 48-hour demo drive program since last week, but many of our readers have been left disappointed as there appears to be a disconnect between Tesla HQ and local showrooms.

According to reports, many Tesla locations across the country, including in major markets British Columbia, Ontario, and Quebec, have told customers that the program isn’t currently available, despite notifications being sent out.

When shown the message as proof, managers have informed customers that they can’t “give away cars for 2 days,” and have instead offered an overnight demo drive.

While customers in Canada need to visit a local showroom to attempt to book a 48-hour demo drive, the experience in the U.S. is vastly different. Customers there can book a 48-hour demo drive direct from the company’s website. However, this option is not available on the Canadian demo drive website, but hopefully it appears soon and helps clear up where and when this is available across the country.
