Tesla introduces new Diamond Black paint for Model 3/Y

Tesla has added a new paint option for the Model 3 and Model Y called Diamond Black. The new paint colour is supposed to be available in Canada and the United States, but it is currently only available south of the border.

The new Diamond Black paint option was announced via Tesla’s official X account, with the company saying it is now available for the Model 3 and Model Y in North America. According to the online configurator, the new colour replaces Solid Black, which is no longer available to choose from.

Tesla has yet to release any official photos of the new paint, but in the few glimpses in the video above, we can see Diamond Black is a deep metallic shade that brings added texture and depth to the classic black finish. Unlike Solid Black, Diamond Black sparkles like Pearl White and Midnight Silver Metallic, but with seemingly much more shine, giving the cars a sleek yet dynamic appearance under different lighting conditions.

Selecting Diamond Black for your new Model 3 or Model Y comes at a price of US$1,500. However, as we noted above, it is not yet available on the Canadian configurator, but based on the price in the U.S., it should be priced as a C$2,000 option in Canada when it finally appears, which we expect to happen soon.

Along with the introduction of Diamond Black, Tesla also brought back Deep Blue Metallic for the new Model Y, at the same time as ending sales of the Launch Series and opening up orders for the regular version of the new Model Y. We also expect this colour to appear on the Canadian configurator soon.
