Tesla has started shipping Cybertrucks with a new horn sound that is more fitting for the truck’s unique design. The new horn sound is currently only on newly built and delivered Cybertrucks, but should be made availableto all Cybertrucks with a future software update.
As with many of Tesla’s changes to its vehicle, the new horn sound wasn’t officially announced by the company as a new feature, instead leaving it up to new owners to discover. One of the first to do so, and likely be surprised by the new horn sound was Scott Buscemi, who shared a video of it on X.

As you can hear in the video, the new Cybertruck horn sound is distinctively different that a typical horn, and will surely catch the attention of whoever you need to catch the attention of when out on the roads.
At first people thought it was a fake, or maybe a malfunctioning horn, but two employees confirmed it was real.
Lead Cybertruck engineer Wes Morrill explained the new sound was being made from the Cybertruck’s external speaker (Pedestrian Warning System – PWS). Morrill said he could not recall which software version enabled the new sound, but that all Cybertrucks have the hardware required to make it.
This was also confirmed by Cybertruck program manager Siddhant Awasthi, who said in a reply to the video that it will be available for all trucks, without saying when or in which software version.
