Tesla is now also allowing customers in China to transfer their existing Full Self-Driving (FSD) package to a new vehicle. This marks the second time this year that Tesla has offered the option to Chinese customers, and comes just a few days after the offer was brought back in North America.
According to a post by Tesla on the Chinese social media platform Weibo on Tuesday, the FSD transfer offer is the same as in Canada and the US. Customers who purchase and take delivery of a Model S, Model 3, Model X, or Model Y by December 31, 2024 are eligible.
This is the second time Tesla has brought this offer to China, with the first occurring in Q1 2024 between February and March, according to CNEvPost. In North America, the offer has been made available five times since Elon Musk said in 2023 it would be a one-time promotion.
However, unlike in North America where FSD is actually available to owners, it is not yet available in China. In China, Tesla’s FSD software is priced at approximately ¥64,000 (C$12,300/US$9,000), while its Enhanced Autopilot (EAP) feature is available for ¥32,000 (C$6,200/US$4,500), offering several advanced driving features such as Navigate on Autopilot, Automatic Lane Change, and Automatic Parking.
However, key features such as traffic light and stop sign control, and Autopilot on city streets are still pending regulatory approval.
According to the most recent update from Tesla, the company hopes to gain regulatory approval to fully launch FSD in China and Europe by 2025.
