Tesla extends FSD transfer offer to the Cybertruck in the US

Tesla is now allowing customers in the United States to transfer their Full Self-Driving (FSD) package when buying a Cybertruck.

Earlier this month Tesla brought back their free FSD transfers for a fifth time, after it was first launched in 2023 as a “one-time amnesty,” according to comments made by CEO Elon Musk when he agreed to the offer. This time owners could transfer the FSD when purchasing a new Tesla and taking delivery by December 31, 2024.

However there was some confusion about which vehicles were eligible for the offer. In a message sent to owners in the mobile app, it explicitly stated that the Cybertruck was excluded from the program. However, on Tesla’s support website, it made no mention of the offer only applying to certain vehicles.

Whether Tesla heard this feedback or not we don’t know, but as on Monday the company is now also allowing customers to transfer FSD when buying a Cybertruck, according to a post from Tesla watcher Sawyer Merritt on X.

This extension of the offer to include the Cybertruck only applies in the US. This is because Canadian Cybertruck deliveries haven’t started yet (expected to begin early next month), and those will be the Foundation Series, which comes with FSD as standard equipment.

Deliveries of the non-Foundation Series, where customers can select whether to add FSD to their orders, will likely start in Canada late in Q1 or into Q2 2024.
