Tesla extends 0% interest financing to Model Y Long Range in China

Tesla has extended its three-year, zero-interest financing offer in China to now include the Long Range (LR) All-Wheel Drive (AWD) variant of the new Model Y.

Chinese customers who purchase either variant of the new Model Y before April 30, 2025, will now be eligible for the interest-free loan up to 3 years in length, as confirmed by Tesla via its official Weibo account. Customers who opt for a more traditional 5-year term will not receive 0%, but rather an “ultra-low” interest rate.

Previously, this financing incentive was exclusive to the entry-level Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) variant of the Model Y, which has seen shorter delivery times compared to its LR counterpart.

The new Model Y, which launched in China on January 10 with deliveries starting in late February, has seen mixed reports in terms of demand. While initially the LR AWD variant saw high demand with delivery wait times stretching up to 10 weeks, Tesla has recently halved those wait times to just 3-5 weeks, according to a report from CNEvPost.

While delivery timelines have shortened, Tesla had previously raised the price of the Model Y Long Range by ¥10,000 when the interest-free financing was first introduced for the RWD version. The combination of a higher price and longer delivery times appeared to slow orders for the Long Range trim, while the RWD model, benefiting from the financing offer and shorter delivery times, saw improved demand.

By now extending the 0% interest offer to both variants, Tesla is signaling its intent to stabilize demand across the entire Model Y lineup.
