Tesla is offering owners of recently purchased Model S and Model X vehicles in the United States a chance to add extra luxury features at a “discount.” The company has announced that owners can now upgrade to the Luxe Package for just $2,000. However, there is one important catch.
What the Luxe Package Includes
The Luxe Package, introduced earlier this year for new S and X buyers, before also being added to the Cybertruck, bundles together a suite of high-value benefits. For the one-time cost, customers receive Unlimited Supercharging, lifetime Premium Connectivity, and four years of premium service.
The package also includes Full Self-Driving (FSD), but there’s a reason why left it out of the list above.
The Catch: Full Self-Driving Required
The discounted Luxe Package is not available to everyone. Tesla has made it only available to owners who already purchased FSD, which currently costs $8,000.
Add together the $2,000 and $8,000, and you get $10,000, the same amount that Tesla increased prices on the Model S/X when they made the Luxe Package standard, hence the quotes around the word discount above.
It is unclear at this time how far back Tesla is going in allowing recent Model S/X buyers to add the package. The deal was sent out via the mobile app to eligible owners, with the message also saying customers need to add the Luxe Package by October 19, or one month from the date of the message.
