A Tesla Energy director has parted ways with the company in yet another high-level departure. This time the executive is Rohan Ma, who was the brains behind Tesla’s Autobidder platform.
Ma, the now former Director, Energy Software and Optimization announced his departure on LinkedIn, where his profile says he founded the Autobidder platform.
He wrote in his departure message, “I’m proud to have contributed over the years to where it is now, and will be cheering the team on from the sidelines as they carry the torch forward and continue to relentlessly solve problems at the frontier of the energy transition… I’m also grateful to our Autobidder customers, particularly those who partnered with me when it was just an idea on a white board.”
Ma joined Tesla in 2016 and rose from Senior Manager of Energy Optimization to Director of Energy and Software Optimization.
Autobidder launched in 2020 as a real-time trading and control platform that helps battery asset owners monetize their investments anonymously. It uses special algorithms to forecast pricing and load and implement smart bidding.

The platform allows both utility-scale and residential-scale participants to sell energy, integrating Tesla’s hardware, such as Powerpacks, Powerwalls, and Megapacks.
According to the company’s website, Autobidder manages hundreds of megawatt-hours of assets, including the Hornsdale Power Reserve in South Australia, where it has successfully lowered energy prices. It also manages the 49 MW Jamesfield plant in Scotland and has been tapped to handle France’s largest battery energy storage plant.
Tesla hosts the solution on its cloud infrastructure.
This is the latest departure of a high-level employee at Tesla over the past year. Other notable now-former employees include Rohan Patel, Drew Baglino, Allie Arebalo, Rebecca Tinucci, Martin Viecha, and Sreela Venkataratnam, among others.
