Tesla climbs the charts to become one of Australia’s most trusted brands

Tesla sold their first car in Australia in 2014, and released the Tesla Model 3 just last year. A lot has changed for the California automaker in Australia over those years, and is now the third most trusted car brand in the country.

According to an annual survey of more than 7,000 respondents by Roy Morgan’s Annual Risk Report, which ranks automotive brands, Tesla was the 7th most trusted brand in 2019 behind the likes of Toyota (1st), Mazda (2nd), and Honda (3rd).

But 2020 was the breakout year for Tesla, rising in the ranks and knocking Honda to 4th place, to be named the third most trusted car brand in Australia.

Based on the results of the survey, there were only two brands that were “distrusted” – Volkswagen and Holden. If you follow the automotive industry, you probably know why VW made that list – Dieselgate. Holden, an Australian automaker, made the distrusted list due to its closure of several Australian facilities recently.

Here’s the full list of most trusted automotive brands in Australia, according to the survey.
