Tesla China closed out 2025 with a strong finish at Giga Shanghai, setting a new monthly delivery record in December and reinforcing the site’s role as the company’s most important global production hub.
According to figures confirmed by the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA) on Monday, Tesla’s Shanghai facility delivered 97,171 vehicles in December, marking the second-highest monthly total in the plant’s history, behind only November 2022, which saw 100,291 units delivered.
It was also obviously the highest month in 2025, surpassing the 90,812 Model 3 and Model Y vehicles that were delivered in September.
Despite the strong end to 2025, vehicles shipped from Shanghai totaled approximately 851,732 units, down about 7 percent year-over-year. However, it still accounted for more than half of Tesla’s global deliveries in 2025, which reached 1.64 million vehicles, once again highlighting how important Giga Shanghai is to Tesla’s overall performance.
Giga Shanghai is Tesla’s largest manufacturing base and its primary export hub, supplying vehicles across the Asia-Pacific region and Europe, and for a brief time Canada as well. The factory’s efficiency is driven in large part by a highly localized supply chain, where about 95 percent of components are sourced locally, supported by a network of more than 400 first-tier suppliers concentrated within a four-hour radius of the plant. More than 60 of those suppliers now feed directly into Tesla’s global supply chain.
December also brought two important milestones in China, as Tesla produced its nine-millionth vehicle, which so happened to roll off the production line at Giga Shanghai. Earlier in the month, the plant had already celebrated its four-millionth vehicle produced on site, highlighting the rapid production ramp since the factory began operations just six years ago.
