Tesla’s latest mobile app update (version 4.48.5) is offering a glimpse into the company’s upcoming products and services, thanks to hidden code uncovered by Tesla App Updates on X. The de-compiled app files reveal a mix of new features for owners, expanded vehicle support, and additional hints about Tesla’s much-anticipated robotaxi platform.
Gamified “Tesla Challenges” on the Way
One of the biggest discoveries is the appearance of “Tesla Challenges”, which appear to function like digital achievements. References in the app’s code point to new API endpoints such as CHALLENGES_GET_INFO and CHALLENGES_START, suggesting that owners may soon be able to complete tasks—potentially activities like frequent Supercharging or testing Full Self-Driving (FSD) features—in exchange for rewards.
New graphic assets, including a trophy icon and a 1 million Powerwall badge, hint that Tesla could tie these challenges to both vehicle and energy product milestones.

Support for Upcoming Model Y Variants
The update also confirms backend support for two new Model Y versions:
- Model Y L – internally labeled BayberryE80 and MY2025cnplus. This long-wheelbase version, currently in production at Giga Shanghai with the first deliveries expected in September, has been confirmed by CEO Elon Musk as not expected to launch in the U.S. until late 2026, if at all, due to the company’s focus on autonomous driving. Despite this, the app’s code indicates that support for this model has been expanded to all regions, possibly preparing for international deliveries such as those to Canada.
- Model Y Performance (MYP) – including a new “Ludicrous” trim referenced in the code as POPPYSEED_BAYBERRY_LUDICROUS. This aligns with Tesla’s recent unveiling of the updated Model Y Performance for the European and Middle East markets earlier this month.
New Wheel Options and Paint Color
Tesla is also expanding personalization choices for Model Y owners. Two fresh wheel options were spotted in the code:
- 21-inch Arachnid 2.0 wheels for the Performance variant.
- 19-inch Machina wheels designed for the Model Y L.
In addition, a new Silk Road Silver paint option, tagged as #2d2c2d, was added to the app. Tesla has been steadily introducing new paint finishes at its factories, and this sleek silver hue could become a popular choice among buyers looking for a premium aesthetic.
Expanded Feedback System
Another notable addition is the launch of a feedback survey tool within the Tesla app. Recently introduced and only available through Tesla’s website, owners will be able to report issues related to FSD, service visits, Supercharging, deliveries, and even robotaxi experiences. Each submission generates an ECHO number, which Tesla uses to track and respond to feedback, indicating a more structured approach to customer support and product improvement.
Robotaxi Integration in Progress
One other detail discovered within the app is further evidence of Tesla’s robotaxi development. Code strings reference ride-summoning capabilities, including the use of Bluetooth and location services to streamline passenger pickup. These additions suggest Tesla is laying the groundwork for an in-app ride-hailing feature, potentially allowing owners and future riders to request autonomous trips directly through the existing Tesla app.
