Tesla announces debut in Saudi Arabia

Tesla is set to make its official debut in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, marking another major milestone in its global expansion.

According to a post from the official Tesla Europe & Middle East account on X, the automaker will host a launch event on April 10, 2025, at Riyadh’s upscale Bujairi Terrace. Attendees will have the chance to experience Tesla’s vehicle lineup firsthand, and even get the chance to see the new Cybercab firsthand, and also meet Optimus, Tesla’s humanoid robot.

This marks a significant move for Tesla, as Saudi Arabia continues to diversify its economy beyond oil through its Vision 2030 strategy. The kingdom has also attracted Lucid, which opened a manufacturing facility in 2023. Initially the factory is reassembling cars built at Lucid’s factory in Casa Grande, Arizona, but will soon transition to building cars from the ground up, with a capacity of 150,000 cars per year.

This launch is also part of Tesla’s broader push into new and emerging markets. Recently the company has also made headlines for expanding into Chile, marking its official entry into South America. Similarly, Tesla has expanded into the Philippines, opening their first store, Supercharger, and launching sales of the Model 3 and Model Y.

Tesla’s expansion into Saudi Arabia is the first, but not that last entry into a new country for Tesla in 2025. During a recent all-hands meeting livestreamed to the public for the first time, CEO Elon Musk said the company plans to enter several new markets this year.
