Tesla has added a touch of sophistication to the Model Y L lineup in China with a new Light Grey Premium Interior option, now available for order through the online configurator. The bright new cabin trim costs ¥8,000 (about C$1,570 or US$1,120).
The new light grey upholstery offers a softer, more welcoming aesthetic than the standard black interior, giving the cabin a more open and airy feel. Tesla describes the material as durable, stain-resistant, and easy to maintain, aimed at providing long-term comfort without sacrificing practicality.
The subtle tones are designed to enhance the perception of space and complement the minimalist interior layout that defines the Model Y lineup.
Deliveries of the Model Y L with the new interior option will begin in November 2025, just ahead of Tesla’s year-end delivery push in China. The Model Y L still comes with the black interior option as standard equipment.

A Popular and Spacious Variant
The Model Y L, launched in China earlier this year, sits between the Long Range and Performance versions in Tesla’s SUV lineup. It features a six-seat configuration, offering additional versatility for families and larger groups — a key factor behind its growing popularity in China.
Unlike the standard five-seat Model Y, the “L” version emphasizes comfort and practicality with a redesigned second-row layout, more premium materials, and enhanced ride refinement. Its debut earlier this year helped boost Tesla’s Chinese sales in September, breaking a two-month slump and signaling renewed demand for locally produced vehicles from Giga Shanghai.
