Tesla has expanded its Supercharger network in China with 55 new charging stations. The expansion is the most extensive on highways that the auto company has ever undertaken in China.
An update shared by Tesla Asia on X includes a map sketch of the locations and how they sprawl across the expressways in Chongqing. Tesla plans to have charging stations roughly one hour’s drive apart along major highway routes.

Chinese outlet Xinhua reports that the newly launched V4 Supercharger stations bring the total to 212 in Chongqing. The mountainous region now connects with other provinces like Sichuan, Hubei, Hunan, Shaanxi, and Guizhou on Tesla’s Supercharger map.
The expanded network should make long-distance EV trips more convenient for Tesla owners in the area. Other EV owners can also use the stations, supporting the company’s shift towards more open charging access.
Huang Lei, Tesla’s regional head for western China, describes the project as a show of the company’s commitment to building lasting roots in China.
Tesla continues to expand its mark in mainland China’s charging space. As of March 2026, the automaker has installed more than 25,000 Supercharging stations and over 12,000 charging piles across the Asian country. More than 950 of these stations are available for non-Tesla EVs.
With Tesla improving how its Superchargers are deployed, the figure could increase more rapidly.
