SpaceX has hit yet another major growth milestone, announcing on Wednesday that Starlink now serves more than 8 million active customers worldwide. The leap comes just months after reaching 7 million in August and 6 million in June—an acceleration that highlights the steep adoption curve Starlink is experiencing.
Based on the figures, Starlink has been onboarding an average of 14,250 new customers per day since surpassing the 7-million mark. That’s a 17% increase over its previous growth record of roughly 12,200 daily additions earlier this year.
The surge further cements Starlink’s position as the world’s largest satellite-internet provider by a massive margin.
“Starlink is connecting more than 8M active customers with high-speed internet across more than 150 countries, territories, and many other markets,” the company said in a post on X, thanking subscribers for helping fuel the platform’s rapid global expansion.
Canada Continues to Embrace Starlink Despite Government Pullback
Canada remains one of Starlink’s strongest markets, especially across northern and rural communities where broadband infrastructure remains sparse. As of mid-July, Starlink confirmed it had surpassed 500,000 active Canadian customers, up from roughly 400,000 a year prior—a 25% year-over-year increase.
That growth has been especially meaningful in remote Indigenous and northern regions. One customer, Nunavut dog sledder and hunter Syola Ikkidluak, described Starlink as transformative for staying safe on the land during long hunting trips around Iqaluit. “Starlink has changed our lives out on the land,” she said at the time.
Despite its popularity, Starlink has faced political headwinds in parts of Canada. Provinces like Quebec and British Columbia have scaled back or declined broadband-subsidy partnerships involving the service, mainly due to Elon Musk’s close political ties to U.S. President Donald Trump.
Even so, consumer demand has remained strong—particularly as Starlink expands partnerships like its agreement with Rogers to enable satellite-based texting and 911 access.
What’s Next
With Starlink’s customer base now growing faster than ever, SpaceX is pushing toward even wider coverage through next-generation satellites, expanded mobility offerings, and more aggressive pricing in select regions. If the current pace continues, Starlink could pass 10 million customers globally well before the end of 2026.
