SpaceX Produces Its 10 Millionth Starlink Kit

SpaceX has reached a major milestone, producing its 10 millionth Starlink kit. The milestone was achieved just four years after the service launched commercially, highlighting the company’s rapidly accelerating production capabilities, and comes as Starlink crosses over 6 million subscribers worldwide.

The achievement was revealed earlier this week by Sujay Soman, a senior facilities engineer at SpaceX, in a now-deleted LinkedIn post.

“It took almost four years to build our first 5 million kits, and we doubled that in about 11 months,” Soman wrote. The post included photos of the team behind the effort at the Bastrop, Texas facility.

Production Scaling at Bastrop

Initially, SpaceX produced its Starlink terminals at its headquarters in Hawthorne, California, and later at a manufacturing facility in Redmond, Washington. However, the opening of its factory in Bastrop, Texas in late 2023 has significantly accelerated the company’s output. As of March 2025, the Bastrop site was capable of producing 15,000 Starlink dishes per day, or approximately 5.5 million per year.

To support its aggressive manufacturing goals, SpaceX is expanding the Bastrop facility by over 1 million square feet in 2025, bringing the total footprint to 1.7 million square feet.

This manufacturing scale-up not only marks a production milestone but also plays a crucial role in reducing hardware costs for consumers. Since April, SpaceX has been offering free Starlink dishes in many markets around the world, including in Canada, for customers who commit to one year of service.

Fueling Global Expansion

The growing production capacity is also supporting SpaceX’s international ambitions. The company is preparing to launch commercial operations in India, one of the world’s largest untapped internet markets.

Starlink’s rapid growth comes on the heels of a broader deployment of its satellite network. To date, SpaceX has launched over 6,000 low Earth orbit satellites, forming the backbone of its high-speed, low-latency internet service. The company also announced this week it has completed the first generation Starlink Direct to Cell constellation.
