Rivian has officially implemented its previously announced price increases for the R1T and R1S in Canada, raising prices by up to $10,000 across its lineup. The adjustment, which took effect on February 25, 2025, makes the most affordable Rivian, the R1T Dual Standard, now start at $108,900, while the top-tier R1S Tri now starts at $158,900.
New Rivian Pricing in Canada
Here’s a breakdown of how Rivian’s Canadian prices have changed:
- R1T Dual Standard: $101,900 → $108,900 (+$7,000)
- R1T Dual: $111,900 → $120,900 (+$9,000)

The recently announced limited-edition Rivian R1T and R1S California Dune remain at $149,900 and $158,900 respectively and was not affected by the increase.
Why Did Rivian Raise Prices in Canada?
Rivian attributed the price hikes to currency fluctuations and the weakening Canadian dollar. However, the new pricing is notably higher than the U.S. pricing when considering the current exchange rate.
For example, the R1T Dual Standard starts at $69,900 in the U.S., which equates to $100,300 Canadian dollars, or roughly $8,500 less than the new price. Similar discrepancies can be found when comparing all models and pricing.
The price increase is expected to have both short-term and long-term effects on Rivian’s sales in Canada. In the lead-up to the adjustment, many buyers likely rushed to finalize purchases before the higher prices took effect. However, with the new pricing now in place, demand will likely see a temporary slowdown.
While Rivian’s vehicles remain premium options in the EV space, the latest price increase places them even further out of reach for most buyers.
Rivian will introduce a more affordable alternative to the R1T and R1S, but that won’t happen until next year with the R2 model expected to debut in 2026.
