Porsche recalls 3,211 Taycan models in Canada over heater/defroster failure, second fix for some vehicles

Porsche has issued a new recall in Canada affecting 3,211 Taycan vehicles after discovering that repairs completed during a previous recall campaign may not have fully resolved an issue with the car’s high-voltage cabin heater.

Transport Canada published the notice under recall number 2025-572, replacing the earlier 2023-313 campaign. The new recall applies to several Taycan variants built between 2020 and 2024, including the Taycan, Taycan Turbo, Taycan Cross Turismo, and Taycan Cross Turismo Turbo.

According to the automaker, the problem stems from a potential failure of the high-voltage electric heater, which supplies warm air to both the cabin and the windshield defroster. If the heater fails, drivers could experience a lack of heat and reduced defrost performance—an issue that could become a serious visibility hazard, particularly in cold or humid conditions.

Second Repair Required For Some Vehicles

Porsche says the new recall is being issued because repairs made under the earlier campaign may not have been effective in all cases. As a result, certain Taycan owners will need to return their vehicles for a second repair.

The company will notify owners by mail with detailed instructions. For some vehicles, an interim fix will be performed first—replacing the existing heater with a new unit of the same design to restore basic heating and defrost capability. Once improved replacement parts become available, Porsche will contact owners again to schedule a final repair using an updated component.

What Owners Should Do

Owners of affected Taycan models don’t need to wait for symptoms to appear. Porsche advises waiting for the official recall letter before scheduling an appointment, but drivers with concerns about heating or defrost performance can contact their local dealership. The recall work will be performed free of charge.

With colder weather approaching, Porsche owners are encouraged to complete the recall sooner rather than later to ensure reliable defrosting and cabin heating throughout the winter.
