Polestar brings Vivaldi web browser to Polestar 2

Polestar is partnering with Vivaldi to produce a fully functional full-scale web browser to provide web services to Polestar 2 owners.

The web browser will be the first browser available for Android Automotive OS.

Vivaldi developed the web browser for use in the Polestar 2 and brought functionality to the 11-inch centre display in the vehicle.

The browser will work similarly to your current web browser on your mobile phone.

Features include tabbed browsing, streaming ability, online shopping and top security measures. The browser also features a built-in ad blocker, privacy-friendly translation tools, a note function and encrypted sync functionality.

Vivaldi is working with Polestar to develop an integrated voice control for a future release. However, no other details were part of the release by the company.

The Vivaldi browser also looks to put safety and comfort first. The browser cannot download files and can only work when the car is parked.

In addition, streaming content will automatically shut off video and continue with audio-only if driving commences.

The web browser is now available in Polestar 2’s in all European and North American markets.

As well, the browser will be available in specific Asia Pacific markets. Unfortunately, the browser is not available in China or South Korea.
