Polestar has announced that the Polestar 2 is gaining a new entertainment app, Prime Video.
When Polestar 2 hit the market in 2019, it made waves as the first car to feature Google’s Android Automotive OS with built-in Google services. Since then, Polestar has continued to add new entertainment options available to drivers, introducing YouTube just a few months ago in June. The latest addition is Prime Video, offering users the ability to stream video content while parked or charging.
“The successful launch and integration of Android Automotive OS in Polestar 2 has proven that we can leverage the best navigation and voice control in the business to make life with a Polestar easier. The Google Play Store has also gained a rich variety of apps that offer interactivity and entertainment, from playing games to streaming series,” said Thomas Ingenlath, CEO of Polestar.
The Swedish automaker, through affiliated partners have released a suite of useful apps designed specifically for the car, including Waze, EasyPark, A Better Routeplanner, AccuWeather, Range Assistant, Journey Log, and the Performance app for dual-motor cars.
In December 2021, Polestar 2 also integrated the Vivaldi web browser, opening up web access to various entertainment services that may not yet have native in-car apps.
Polestar’s partnership with Google has laid the foundation for their upcoming cars, including the Polestar 3 and Polestar 4, which will feature an evolved interface with larger screens and enhanced capabilities.
