Lucid may only have one vehicle in their lineup, the luxury Air electric sedan, but included in the company’s product roadmap is an electric pickup truck. According to the last update from Lucid it not scheduled to be released until 2030, but we now have a first look at the possible design.
When Lucid went public in 2021, the company laid out its product roadmap in its Investor Presentation. The Lucid roadmap started with the Air sedan later that same year. Following the Air was to be Lucid’s electric SUV, the Gravity, which was originally scheduled to debut in 2023. However after a difficult start of operations the Gravity has been delayed, but is set to have its official debut at the LA Auto Show later this week and enter production late in 2024.
UPDATE 2:49pm Nov 28: We finally heard back from Lucid about this photo, and got an interesting response. They basically confirmed the clay model was real, but said it was old and a pickup was never in their plans. “In the early days of Gravity development, the design team did create a clay model of a pick-up to see what it might look like but a pick-up was never in the product development plan,” a spokesperson told Drive Tesla. However as you can see the product roadmap specially mentions a pickup by 2030. We have followed up for more info.
Lucid was then hoping to expand their lineup even further with a planned electric coupé and electric pickup truck. Back in 2021 those two vehicles were scheduled to debut in 2030, and while we don’t know if those two platforms have also been delayed, the company has at least started working on the design of their electric pickup truck.
In a photo leaked on X, and later shared on the Lucid Forum, we can see what appears to be a clay model of the Lucid pickup, sitting next to another clay model of the Gravity SUV, at an undisclosed location. Unlike Tesla’s Cybertruck design, it looks like Lucid is going with a more traditional pickup look, with many design cues borrowed from the Air sedan, and the Gravity SUV as well.
While Lucid had originally planned to release their pickup in 2030, that timeline may have been bumped up. Some fans are speculating the pickup truck could be designed and built on the same platform as the Gravity, which would certainly move ahead its potential release date.
We have reached out to Lucid for a comment on this photo, but have not received a response at the time of publication. We will update this article if we hear back.
