Despite Rivian announcing Canadian deliveries of the R1T electric pickup truck won’t begin in Canada until January 2022, it looks like the automaker has already delivered the first vehicle in Vancouver, British Columbia.
Even though Rivian is based in California and its manufacturing facility is in Normal, Illinois, Vancouver is home to a large contingent of the company’s employees.
The company opened its first office in early 2020 in the Yaletown district. The office houses close to 100 employees who work mainly on the vehicle’s infotainment software and mobile app development.
Following the trend in the US, at least one of those employees appears to have already taken delivery of a R1T, after one was spotted yesterday afternoon in Vancouver by @Vancity_Tesla.

It was spotted again in the evening by Alex Britch along West Georgia Street in downtown Vancouver.
Making this sighting different than the one last week, this R1T did not have manufacturer or dealer plates on it. Instead it had regular B.C. license plates, indicating this truck was owned by a local resident.
