Air France to offer free Starlink in 2025

Air France is the second major airline in as many weeks to announce it will soon be offering free high-speed Wi-Fi powered by SpaceX’s Starlink.

In an announcement on Thursday, Air France says that starting in the summer of 2025, passengers across all classes on all of its planes will enjoy a “ground-like” internet experience with Starlink that will allow them to stream videos, play games, and stay connected while airborne.

The service will be offered to passengers for free, but they will need to log in using their Flying Blue account, Air France’s frequent flyer program. If you don’t have an existing FlyingBlue account, Air France says you can easily sign up onboard for immediate access to the free Wi-Fi.

The installation of Starlink technology will take place over the airline’s entire fleet, including smaller regional aircraft.

Air France is not the first airline to make such a move. United Airlines made a similar announcement just last week, and Hawaiian Airlines was the first major US carrier to roll out free Starlink Wi-Fi earlier this year. In fact, Hawaiian Airlines also announced this week it has completed the installation of Starlink across its entire fleet of Airbus A330 aircraft.

With Air France joining the growing list of Starlink-enabled airlines, it seems like it is only a matter of time before all airlines will be equipping their aircraft with Starlink.
