Tesla’s upcoming three-row version of its best-selling SUV is moving closer to launch in another market. New regulatory filings show the Tesla Model Y L has now been certified in South Korea, as the company prepares to expand the variant beyond China.

The certification appeared on the Korea Energy Agency’s website, where the Model Y L was approved for display fuel efficiency and energy consumption ratings. At the same time, additional technical details related to the vehicle surfaced through the certification documents.

Among the key information listed were the battery supplier and seating configuration. The filings show the vehicle will use battery cells from LG Energy Solution, with the Model Y L configured to carry six passengers. (via @Tslachan)

The certification marks another step toward the vehicle’s official debut in the Korean market. Camouflaged prototypes of the Model Y L have also recently been spotted testing on public roads in the country, further indicating preparations for a launch are underway.

Australia and New Zealand confirmed for 2026

At the same time, Tesla also confirmed on Friday the Model Y L is headed to Australia and New Zealand, following regulatory approvals earlier this year.

The arrival of the stretched Model Y will give Tesla its first mainstream three-row electric SUV in those markets, targeting families who need more space but want to avoid the higher price tags typically associated with large EVs.

While final pricing and specifications for Australia and New Zealand have not yet been announced, the Model Y L could become one of the more affordable three-row electric SUVs available when it launches.

With South Korea certification now complete and testing underway, the global rollout of the Tesla Model Y L appears to be accelerating. As for a North American launch, CEO Elon Musk said that likely won’t happen until the end of the year, if at all depending on how FSD matures in 2026.
