Tesla has expanded its Model Y lineup in the United Kingdom with the introduction of the new Model Y Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD).
Tesla UK confirmed the launch on social media, saying, “Model Y Rear Wheel Drive Long Range now available for the Brits,” highlighting its combination of efficiency, range, and affordability. Priced from £44,990, the new variant sit just £3,000 above the entry-level Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) variant, and £4,000 below the Long Range RWD Premium model.
Tesla first introduced this variant in Europe earlier this year. Initially marketed as the Model Y Standard Long Range RWD, Tesla has since streamlined its naming structure, dropping the “Standard” designation entirely.
The new trim builds on Tesla’s strategy of offering simplified configurations that maximize range and efficiency without unnecessary premium features. Standard equipment includes 19-inch Crossflow wheels, a change from the standard 18″ Aperture wheels offered in North America on the Model Y Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD).
Even with the larger wheels, the new variant delivers an estimated 383 miles (616 km) of range on the WLTP cycle, making it one of the most efficient Model Y configurations currently available.
Despite its lower price, the vehicle retains Tesla’s core software and technology ecosystem. Buyers still benefit from over-the-air (OTA) software updates, integrated Trip Planner with real-time Supercharger availability, and Phone Key functionality.
The configurator shows Autopilot is included in the base price, with customers having the option to purchase Enhanced Autopilot or Full Self-Driving Capability for £3,400 or £6,800 respectively.
