Tesla has secured approval for its upcoming 2026 Model Y Long Range manufactured at its Giga Berlin factory, to qualify for Quebec’s $4,000 provincial rebate. The listing, recently updated on the Quebec government’s website, adds momentum for Tesla in a market that has seen EV sales drop sharply over the past year.
According to Quebec’s Roulez-Vert program website, the 2026 Model Y AWD-B (B for Berlin) has now been added to the official list of eligible vehicles, confirming that the German-built crossover meets the province’s requirements for financial assistance.
Buyers in Quebec will be able to claim a $4,000 incentive on the purchase of the new model, with other rebate amounts available for leasing depending on the contract length.
Currently, the Model Y is priced at $64,990 in Canada, pushing the price to just above $60,000 for eligible buyers.
This approval comes at an important moment, both for Tesla and Quebec’s EV market. Despite being one of Canada’s leaders in zero-emission vehicle adoption, Quebec’s EV sales have slumped in 2025. According to Statistics Canada, EV sales in June 2025 fell by 35% year-over-year, with just over 14,000 electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles sold nationwide. Quebec, historically one of the strongest EV markets due to its generous rebates and low-cost hydroelectric power, has not been immune to this downturn.
The drop is largely tied to policy changes and price increases. Ottawa ended its federal iZEV incentive program earlier in 2025, which had provided up to $5,000 off qualifying EVs. At the same time, Quebec paused their EV incentive program for several months, then restarted it with a lower $4,000 rebate, down from $7,000 previously.
Adding to the issue was Tesla’s massive price increases due to the tariff situation with the United States. However, Tesla has now switched their logistics to import the Model Y from Germany, instead of the U.S., resulting in a price that is even lower than before tariffs.
