Chevrolet Halts Blazer EV Sales To Address Software Glitches

Chevrolet has issued a stop-sale order on its all-new 2024 Blazer EV in an effort to address a software quality concern,

The software glitches are not safety related, but result in sporadic problems with the EVs internal screens and, in some cases, during charging attempts at certain public DC fast chargers. In an email to Automotive News, Scott Bell, the Vice President of Global Chevrolet, confirmed the issues and assured customers that the automaker is actively working on a fix.

“Customer satisfaction is our priority and as such, we will take a brief pause on new deliveries,” he said. (via Automotive News)

Despite it being a software issue, owners won’t be able to download and install a new version at home as they will need to have the vehicle’s software updated at their nearest dealership. Chevrolet did not specify how many Blazer EVs are affected, but the stop-sale includes vehicles both in transit and those already on dealership lots.

The decision to implement the stop-sale comes on the heels of a report by Edmunds, which reported 23 different issues with a vehicle from its long-term testing fleet. According to the publication, the Blazer EV was kept at a dealership for several weeks to address what they described as “the single longest list of major faults” they had ever encountered on a new car.

The Blazer EV, launched earlier this summer, comes in a variety of trim levels. The 2LT all-wheel drive trim starts at C63,298 or US$56,715, while the RS all-wheel drive (AWD) trim starts at C73,298 or US$60,215.
