Rivian R1T Dual-Motor variants receive official EPA range ratings

The new dual-motor variants of the Rivian R1T have received their official range ratings from the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and the figures show off impressive efficiency.

First introduced into production in May, the R1T Dual-Motor is equipped with Rivian’s in-house developed Enduro motors, which according to the EPA is good enough for 352 miles (566km) of range when equipped with 21-inch wheels and the Large Pack battery. This exceeds the automaker’s initial estimates by 2 miles. (via InsideEVs)

Opting for the 22-inch wheels will decrease that range slightly, down to 341 miles (549km), but still surpassing Rivian’s own projection of 320 miles (515km). The range when equipped with the 20-inch wheels have yet to appear on the EPA’s list, but Rivian’s projects 300 miles (483km), which based on their other estimates could be conservative.

The Rivian R1T Dual-Motor is no slouch when it comes to performance. With 533 horsepower and 610 ft-lbs of torque, the DM variant zips from 0 to 60 mph in 4.5 seconds. Opting for the Performance Dual-Motor AWD model elevates these numbers even further, delivering 665 horsepower and 829 ft-lbs of torque, resulting in a 0-60 mph time of just 3.5 seconds.

Comparing the Dual-Motor variant to its Quad-Motor counterpart with the same wheel size, the Enduro motors help to achieve superior range figures, all while employing the same battery pack, and at a more competitive price point.

While the range ratings show off impressive efficiency, buyers should be aware the dual-motor variants come with a shorter warranty than their quad-motor counterparts.
