Tesla has significantly expanded the availability of its long-wheelbase Model Y L, officially launching the six-seat electric SUV across eight markets in Asia. The latest rollout includes Japan, Thailand, South Korea, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Macau, and the Philippines.
In South Korea, one of the newly added markets, Tesla confirmed the Model Y L will start at 64.99 million won (C$59,900/US$43,000), with vehicles already arriving in showrooms nationwide. Deliveries in most of these markets are expected to begin later this month.
Supply for these markets will be imported from Tesla’s Gigafactory Shanghai, which currently serves as the only production site for the Model Y L, although recent sightings at Giga Texas suggest that factory may be next in line to produce the new variant.

The Model Y L represents a significant evolution over the standard Model Y, primarily through its increased size and reworked interior. Inside, the Model Y L features a dedicated six-seat configuration, replacing the traditional five- or seven-seat layouts.
The second row adopts independently adjustable seats, while the third row provides improved legroom and headroom compared to the standard Model Y’s more constrained setup. Additional touches, such as a powered armrest, further enhance passenger comfort and usability for families.

The Model Y L first launched in China last year, and has only recently expanded to new markets, including Australia, New Zealand, and Thailand.
There is still no official word on when it might appear in North America, but CEO Elon Musk previously said not until late 2026, but as mentioned above, that timeline might have been accelerated.
