The Boring Company has officially revealed the winners of its “Tunnel Vision Challenge,” confirming it will move forward with plans to build multiple tunnels at no cost to project partners—pending feasibility and regulatory approval.

After weeks of submissions from around the world, the company announced three winning proposals, each focused on improving urban transportation through underground Loop systems. The selected projects are:

  • NOLA Loop in New Orleans
  • Ravens Loop in Baltimore
  • University Hills Loop in Dallas

All three projects are designed to transport passengers using vehicles in underground tunnels, similar to existing Loop systems already deployed in Las Vegas.

The announcement is a significant expansion of the challenge’s original scope. Initially framed as a single winning project, The Boring Company instead selected three, citing the strength and diversity of submissions.

In a statement, the company said it had been “overwhelmed with the amazing submissions,” leading to the decision to name multiple winners rather than just one.

What Happens Next

Before construction begins, each project will undergo a detailed due diligence process fully funded by The Boring Company. This includes consultations with elected officials, regulators, and community stakeholders, along with geotechnical testing and underground infrastructure analysis.

Only projects that successfully pass this phase will proceed to construction. If all three meet the necessary requirements, The Boring Company says it intends to build all of them. However, if only one or two prove viable, the company will prioritize those.

Additional Projects Under Consideration

Beyond the three winners, The Boring Company also highlighted two additional proposals it plans to continue exploring:

  • Hendersonville Utility Tunnel in Hendersonville
  • Morgan’s Wonderland Tunnel in San Antonio

These projects are not yet confirmed for construction but were deemed compelling enough to warrant further collaboration and potential development.

The Tunnel Vision Challenge was designed to crowdsource practical, real-world uses for fast, cost-effective tunneling. By offering to cover construction costs, The Boring Company aimed to lower the barrier for cities and organizations to explore underground solutions to congestion and infrastructure limitations.
