Xiaomi has officially unveiled the next-generation SU7 electric sedan, refining its first EV with upgraded technology, improved safety, and more competitive pricing.
The updated SU7 arrives with a starting price of 219,900 yuan (C$43,800/US$31,900), undercutting its earlier pre-sale pricing and positioning it more aggressively against rivals like the Tesla Model 3 in China, which started at 235,500 yuan (C$46,900/US$34,200). Despite being slightly more expensive than the original version launched two years ago, the new pricing reflects Xiaomi’s strategy of delivering more features while maintaining strong value.
Early demand appears to be strong. Shortly after the launch event, Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun revealed the new SU7 secured over 15,000 locked-in orders within just 34 minutes.
The SU7 lineup includes three variants—Standard, Pro, and Max—each offering different battery sizes and performance levels. The entry-level version is equipped with a 73 kWh battery and delivers up to 720 km (447 miles) of range (CLTC), while the Pro model increases capacity to 96.3 kWh and extends range to 902 km (560 miles).

At the top of the lineup, the Max variant features a 101.7 kWh battery and delivers up to 835 km of range, along with a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in just over three seconds.
Beyond performance and range, Xiaomi has focused heavily on standardizing advanced hardware across the entire lineup. All trims now include LiDAR, a 4D millimeter-wave radar, and Nvidia’s Thor computing platform, delivering 700 TOPS of processing power. This hardware supports Xiaomi’s latest driver-assistance system, which is powered by its new XLA cognitive model and integrates multiple AI-driven functions to enhance decision-making and safety.

The updated SU7 also introduces structural improvements, including an upgraded body design using ultra-high-strength steel rated at up to 2,200 MPa. Additional safety features include nine airbags and a reinforced battery protection system designed to improve durability in extreme conditions.
Charging performance has also seen meaningful gains. Thanks to its high-voltage architecture, the Max variant can recover up to 670 km (416 miles) of range in just 15 minutes under optimal conditions.
Inside, the SU7 continues to emphasize technology, featuring a large central display, a rotating instrument panel, and an enhanced smart cockpit system with expanded voice controls and multi-screen functionality. Xiaomi has also refined interior materials and user interface design to create a more premium in-cabin experience.

The launch of the updated SU7 comes as Xiaomi transitions away from the first-generation model, which recorded more than 381,000 cumulative deliveries. The company is targeting 550,000 vehicle deliveries in 2026, with the SU7 expected to play a key role in achieving that goal.
There is also the potential for Xiaomi’s vehicles to expand to Canada. With tariffs on Chinese-built EVs now reduced to just 6.1%, the SU7 could eventually land in Canada and become a compelling new option for buyers.
