Just days after Elon Musk suggested the new $59,990 Dual Motor AWD Cybertruck price could change depending on demand, Tesla has updated the estimated delivery timeline for the new variant in the U.S., and the change is notable.
What was initially showing June 2026 delivery is now listed as September–October 2026, a roughly three to four month pushback.

While Tesla does not typically explain the reason behind changes to estimated delivery windows, the most obvious conclusion is that order volume for the sub-$60K Cybertruck has significantly exceeded internal expectations.
When the configuration first launched, it felt like Tesla had finally found the right formula — pairing Dual Motor AWD performance with a price that, adjusted for inflation, landed below the original 2019 promise. The response from buyers appears to confirm that view.
If production capacity remains relatively fixed in the near term, a surge in orders would naturally push delivery estimates further into the year. Moving from June to early fall suggests Tesla’s order bank filled quickly once the new variant went live last week. And most importantly, this shift is happening within the 10-day pricing window Musk announced last week, just hours after the new Cybertruck was added to the online configurator.
As we previously suggested, the question was whether 10 days would be enough to meaningfully gauge demand — particularly when the announcement was largely communicated via X, without a broad marketing campaign, and not even included on Tesla’s website.
If Tesla is already extending estimated deliveries by several months, it suggests that even without traditional advertising, awareness among Tesla’s core audience was enough to drive substantial order flow.
What Happens Next?
The big question now shifts back to pricing. Musk said the future price “depends on how much demand we see at this price level.” If delivery timelines are already slipping within days of launch, it gives Tesla clear evidence that demand at $59,990 is strong.
That could make a post–10-day price increase more likely, not less. At the same time, pushing deliveries into September–October 2026 introduces a new dynamic. Some buyers may hesitate if wait times continue to grow, while others may rush to lock in pricing before any potential adjustment.
