SpaceX targets mid-March Starship V3 test flight

SpaceX is looking to launch another Starship test in the middle of March, as revealed by company CEO, Elon Musk, on X. The prototype rocket will prove the capabilities of the latest upgrades to one of the most ambitious spaceships ever.

Musk posted, “Starship launch in 6 weeks,” making the next launch’s timeline public.

The space exploration company is developing the V3 version, which increases the Starship’s size and power. SpaceX plans to launch more Starlink satellites with the current iteration. The massive rocket is also being designed to dock with other Starships in orbit.

The last test did not go as SpaceX intended, and the V3 prototype damaged its booster in an explosion in November. The company, however, is gearing up for another round as it prepares the rocket that NASA is banking on to return astronauts to the moon.

SpaceX, however, is getting near its goals. The V2, for example, has achieved the launch of dummy Starlink satellites and returned several booster stages to the launch pad.

While SpaceX continues to dominate the space launch markets, its competitors are not sitting idle. Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin is testing its own jumbo rocket, the New Glenn, too, with another flight scheduled for the end of February. The spacecraft has already delivered a NASA payload into orbit, giving the agency options when it comes to picking a launch partner.
