Tesla opens demo drives in Colombia this week ahead of official launch

Tesla is officially shifting its attention to South America, confirming that its first customer demo drives in Colombia will begin this week. The company also released a new teaser video ahead of launch, setting the stage for what is expected to be Tesla’s second market expansion in South America.

According to Tesla, the initial round of demo drive events will take place in two major cities. The first begins November 21 in Bogotá, followed by a second event on November 25 in Medellín. Demo drives at both locations will run until December 31. These dates line up with growing evidence that Tesla is nearing the formal start of sales and service operations in Colombia—something the company has been quietly preparing with the start of local hiring several months ago.

In a brief announcement, Tesla reiterated the significance of the moment. “Starting on Friday, November 21, 2025, you can be one of the first to take a demo drive in a Tesla on the streets of Bogota,” the company said. The new teaser video highlights the Model 3 and Model Y navigating Colombian streets, teasing a broader regional rollout.

A Final Step Toward Tesla’s Colombian Debut

As Drive Tesla has reported over recent months, the company’s presence in Colombia has been building steadily. Tesla has already begun hiring for showroom, delivery, and service positions. Demo drives are typically one of the final steps before Tesla opens its first store in a new market.

Given that the Model 3 and Model Y dominate Tesla’s global sales, and given their appearance in the teaser video, both are expected to be offered at launch.

What To Expect

Tesla has not yet disclosed pricing or configuration details for Colombia, but the lineup will likely mirror offerings in Tesla’s only other South American market, Chila, where both RWD and AWD variants of the Model 3 and Model Y are available. As Tesla typically does in new markets, Supercharger stations will also be deployed to support new owners.

With demo drives just days away, Colombia appears to be on the brink to officially joining Tesla’s global retail network.
