Jeep has officially pulled the wraps off the all-electric 2026 Recon, and Canadians will be among the first to get their hands on the brand’s first fully electric Trail Rated SUV. Built in Toluca, Mexico, the Recon will begin production in early 2026 before arriving in showrooms across Canada and the U.S., with global markets to follow shortly after.
Range, Specs, and What to Expect
Jeep is leading the Recon rollout with the flagship Moab trim, a 650-horsepower dual-motor setup delivering 620 lb-ft of torque and an estimated 370 kilometres of range from its 100-kWh, 400-volt battery pack. A second trim with an estimated 400-kilometre range will arrive later, giving buyers a slightly longer-legged option for daily driving and highway trips.
Pricing for Canada has not yet been announced, but the starting figure is expected to come in at the high $70’s to low $80’s, positioning it above the Wrangler 4xe but below most premium off-road EVs. Despite the premium, the Recon instantly becomes one of the few electric SUVs capable of true off-road adventure at this price point.
The Moab trim arrives ready for rugged terrain with a 33.8-degree approach angle, 33.1-degree departure angle, 23.3-degree breakover, and 231 mm (9.1 in.) of ground clearance on standard 33-inch all-terrain tires. The dual electric drive modules (EDMs) include an electronic locking rear differential, a steep 15:1 rear final-drive ratio, and Jeep’s full Selec-Terrain system with Auto, Sport, Snow, Sand, and Rock modes.

Off-road tools such as Selec-Speed Control, hill-hold, and extensive steel underbody protection round out the package, making the Recon one of the most purpose-built electric off-roaders to date.
Inside, the Recon blends rugged functionality with modern tech. A 14.5-inch centre display and 12.3-inch digital cluster run Stellantis’ latest Uconnect 5 platform, complete with the new Trails Offroad app covering routes in Canada and the U.S. Modular door panels with removable straps, a two-tier centre console, and up to 1,866 litres of cargo space with the rear seats folded add everyday usability.

Jeep even managed to bring classic Wrangler freedom into the EV era: the doors, rear quarter glass, and swing-gate glass are all removable without tools, and the standard dual-pane roof can be upgraded to the one-touch power top.
How the U.S. Model Compares
South of the border, the 2026 Recon will start at $65,000 USD, including destination, offering the same 650-hp output and roughly 250 miles (400 km) of estimated range depending on trim. The lineup mirrors Canada’s, with the Moab trim launching first before additional variants arrive later in 2026.

A Crucial EV for Jeep’s Comeback
Jeep sees the Recon as proof that electrification can enhance, not compromise, its off-road DNA. With instant torque, silent crawling capability, and genuine Trail Rated credentials, the Recon is poised to give buyers a much-needed electric option in a segment currently dominated by far pricier choices.
The 2026 Jeep Recon arrives early next year — and for off-road EV fans, it looks like the wait may finally have been worth it.
