The Polestar 4 is the latest Polestar to receive a 5-star safety rating from the European New Car Assessment Program (NCAP).
The NCAP, which has been testing new vehicle entrants to the European market since 1997, provides a ranking on a 5-star scale for safety. Vehicles receiving a five-star rating must demonstrate an overall excellent performance in crash protection and are well-equipped with state-of-the-art crash avoidance technology.
NCAP evaluates four broad safety categories to determine its overall ranking.
- Adult Occupant Testing – The Polestar 4 received a 92% rating, with maximum points for the side barrier and side pole impact tests.
- Child Occupant Testing – The vehicle received an 85% rating, with maximum points in the frontal offset and side barrier tests.
- Vulnerable Road Users Testing – The 4 received an 81% score.
- Safety Assist Systems Testing – The Polestar 4 received a 79%.
Overall, the Polestar 4 achieved a 5-star rating across the board and an overall score of 83% putting it first in this batch of testing from the NCAP, which included the Lynk & Co 02. OMODA 9, ZEEKR 7x and MG P9 EV.
This is the third Polestar vehicle to receive a 5-star rating from the European NCAP. The Polestar 2 was awarded a 5-star rating back in 2021, and the Polestar 3 received its 5-star rating earlier this year.
