Virgin Atlantic Signs Up For Starlink Wi-Fi

Virgin Atlantic has announced a major upgrade to its in-flight connectivity, becoming the first UK airline to adopt Starlink internet across its entire fleet. Starting in Q3 2026, the airline will begin installing the high-speed satellite-based Wi-Fi on its Boeing 787s, Airbus A350s, and A330neo aircraft, with the full rollout expected to be completed by the end of 2027.

The Starlink service promises ultra-fast, low-latency internet that rivals ground-based broadband. It enables passengers to stream videos, game online, work, and stay connected with friends and family—all from 35,000 feet in the air.

Virgin Atlantic will offer the service completely free of charge for all Flying Club loyalty members, with access available gate-to-gate and across all cabins.

“We never stop innovating for our guests,” said Siobhan Fitzpatrick, Virgin Atlantic’s Chief Experience Officer. “Together with Starlink, we are delighted to provide our guests with the best connectivity in the skies, further elevating our onboard experience.”

The new Wi-Fi service is part of a broader transformation at Virgin Atlantic aimed at redefining the premium flying experience. Alongside the Starlink rollout, the airline revealed a full refurbishment plan for its Boeing 787-9 fleet, set to begin in 2028. The retrofit will include redesigned cabins and expanded premium seating, taking cues from the airline’s newer A330neos.

Virgin Atlantic’s multi-billion-dollar investment strategy also includes a fleet transformation that will see the airline operating 45 next-generation aircraft by 2028. This includes 19 A330-900s, 12 A350-1000s, and 14 Boeing 787-9s.

With the Starlink deal, Virgin Atlantic joins a growing list of global carriers opting for SpaceX’s satellite internet, though it remains the first in the UK to commit to a fleet-wide, free offering.
