Chinese electric vehicle maker Xpeng has officially launched its all-new G7 SUV, a mid-size crossover. With pricing starting from just ¥195,800 in China—approximately C$37,000, and a rich feature set, it is positioned as a direct challenger to the Tesla Model Y and the newly-released Xiaomi YU7.
Xpeng revealed that it received over 10,000 customer orders within the first nine minutes of the launch. Each reservation required a refundable ¥5,000 deposit, signaling strong early demand for the company’s seventh production model.
The G7 follows the success of the compact G6 and larger G9, slotting in between the two in terms of size and performance.
The G7 is available in three trims:
- G7 Max 602: 68.5 kWh LFP battery, 602 km CLTC range – ¥195,800 (C$37,200)
- G7 Max 702: 80.8 kWh LFP battery, 702 km CLTC range – ¥205,800 (C$39,100)
- G7 Ultra: 80.8 kWh LFP battery, 702 km CLTC range – ¥225,800 (C$42,900)
All trims come with a 218 kW (292 hp) Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) motor that enables 0–100 km/h acceleration in 6.5 seconds. With its focus on cost, Xpeng will not offer a dual-motor All-Wheel Drive (AWD) option.
Built on an 800V silicon carbide high-voltage platform, the G7 supports ultra-fast 5C charging. With a peak charge rate of 451 kW, it can regain 436 km of range in just 10 minutes and charge from 10% to 80% in 12 minutes. Energy consumption is as low as 10.8–12.9 kWh per 100 km, making it one of the most efficient SUVs in its class.

Xpeng is pushing boundaries in vehicle intelligence. The G7 Ultra features three of Xpeng’s in-house developed Turing AI chips with 2,250 TOPS of total compute—significantly more than what’s found in Tesla’s or Xiaomi’s ADAS systems. Even the base trims come with dual Nvidia Orin-X chips (508 TOPS), giving the G7 robust autonomous driving capability.
Xpeng plans to activate L3 self-driving functionality for the Ultra trim via an OTA update in December 2025.

Inside, the G7 emphasizes comfort and technology. The highlight is an 87-inch augmented reality head-up display (AR-HUD) developed in partnership with Huawei, replacing the traditional instrument cluster. Additional features include a 15.6-inch infotainment display, dual 50W wireless chargers, 20-speaker sound system, heated and ventilated massage seats, and extensive smart storage throughout the cabin.

Rear passengers get their own touchscreen, a foldable table, and even a cooling-enabled wireless charging pad in the armrest. The G7 also boasts more front shoulder and headroom than the Model Y, along with premium materials like wood, metal, and microfiber.
The G7 debut caps off a record first half of 2025 for Xpeng. The company delivered 34,611 vehicles in June alone—a 224% year-over-year jump—and 197,189 vehicles globally from January to June, more than half of its annual target.
