Trump Pledges to Buy Tesla to Support Elon Musk

U.S. President Donald Trump has announced he plans to purchase a Tesla as a public display of support for Elon Musk. The statement comes amid a sharp 15% decline in Tesla’s stock price and growing protests against the company, particularly in the U.S. and Europe.

Trump took to his own Truth Social social media platform to call out what he described as an “illegal and collusive” boycott of Tesla, blaming “radical left lunatics” for attempting to harm Musk and his businesses.

Musk currently holds a key advisory position in the Trump administration, leading the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). The role has put Musk at the center of political discourse, leading to criticism from consumer advocates and activist groups who accuse him of leveraging Tesla’s success to influence government policy.

“To Republicans, Conservatives, and all great Americans, Elon Musk is ‘putting it on the line’ in order to help our Nation, and he is doing a FANTASTIC JOB! But the Radical Left Lunatics… are trying to illegally and collusively boycott Tesla, one of the World’s great automakers, and Elon’s ‘baby,’ in order to attack and do harm to Elon, and everything he stands for,” Trump wrote.

“In any event, I’m going to buy a brand new Tesla tomorrow morning as a show of confidence and support for Elon Musk, a truly great American.”

Musk responded to the statement by sharing a screenshot of Trump’s post on his social media platform, X, thanking the president for his endorsement.

Despite Trump’s support, Tesla’s stock remains under pressure. Investors and analysts are concerned about Musk’s ability to balance his political involvement with the effective management of Tesla, SpaceX, Neuralink, and X. In a Fox Business interview aired on Monday, Musk was asked how effectively he is able to manage his companies while fulfilling his government role, stating, “With great difficulty.”

Additionally, Tesla has faced increasing protests, including vandalism of vehicles and showrooms. Recent incidents include arson attacks on Tesla Supercharger stations and stores in France and the U.S. When asked about the growing threats against his company and employees, Musk laughed and shrugged it off, without directly addressing the issue.
