Tesla Model Y spotted for the first time testing with roof racks installed

Last weekend we saw for the first time a Tesla Model Y on the road testing with a hitch bike carrier installed. This weekend brought us another first, with the first photos of the rear hatch open, giving us an inside like at the spacious rear cargo area.

With the first deliveries expected to happen as early as next week, a black Model Y was also spotted this past weekend for the first time with roof racks installed. The sighting happened along SR 237 in Sunnyvale, California.

The video, shared to YouTube by RKT, shows what appears to be the same low-profile roof racks available for the Model 3. Given that the Model Y and the Model 3 share a lot of the same components, it wouldn’t be too surprising if they roof rack for the Model 3 is interchangeable with the Model Y as well.

The Model 3 roof rack was only released as an accessory available on Tesla’s online shop well after the release of the vehicle. Even if they are not the same racks as that, Model Y owners should expect them available for purchase soon after the vehicle is released.
