Porsche Taycan Turbo side-by-side with a Tesla Model 3

Since the Porsche Taycan was released, nearly all of the comparisons with it have been against Tesla’s flagship Model S.

Earlier this year, Drive Tesla was able to get an up-close look at one of the first Porsche Taycan Turbo’s to arrive in Canada. We were scheduled to have a drive in this Taycan, but then COVID-19 hit and everything changed.

Instead, we just have a bunch of photos comparing the Porsche Taycan Turbo to the Tesla Model 3 that we haven’t published, until now.

In terms of height, the Taycan sits quite a bit lower, but the roofline is very close to the Model 3. The stance of the Taycan is much wider visually, and that’s confirmed when looking at the specs with the Taycan width coming in at 1.97m compared to 1.85m for the Model 3.

Overall length is very similar, with the Taycan being about 25cm longer than the Model 3.

After seeing it in person, I thought the styling looked great from the front. However, the rear of the Taycan just didn’t seem right, it felt bland and boring compared to the rest of the vehicle.

The interior felt much more like a sports car, with the dash and center console wrapping around the driver’s seat. The infotainment system was a bit clunky and slow to respond, and the second screen below was confusing as to which one to use.

Hopefully we’ll be able get behind the wheel of this Taycan Turbo soon and give a more detailed analysis, but until then, here is a side-by-side look of it against our Tesla Model 3 (click to enlarge photos).
